Flamy Grant is one of the most unexpected artists to have an album, Bible Belt Baby, and single,  “Good Day” featuring Derek Webb, go to number one on the iTunes Christian and Gospel charts. The drag artist’s single has also debuted at number 20 on Billboards Christian Digital Song Sales despite being released in October through Glam & Glory Records.

Not only has Grant’s talent brought her to this success, but the hate of a bigot helped as well. On July 26, Jesus freak musician Sean Feucht Tweeted a link from “churchleaders.com” that includes an Instagram post with Grant as well as a fan and her mother and Christian singer-songwriter Derek Webb. Feucht calls the content of the Instagram post the “end goal of the deconstruction movement in the church.”

Grant responded with a video on Instagram describing Feucht for the bigot that he is while writing: “Sean Feucht think hardly anyone is interested in a worship song by a drag queen. Good Day deserves a spot on the #christianmusic charts, dontcha think?”

That same day, Grant posted about “Good Day” reaching number four on the iTunes Christian and Gospel charts until only a few hours later both the single and album, Bible Belt Baby, reached number one.

She posted that it was a risk to ask her fans to help her get a 10 month old single onto the Christian iTunes charts, but then wrote, “Y’all. We did not flop. You fucking activated.” Grant also wrote that she is the first drag queen to chart in Christian music and ended her post writing, “I don’t know what else to say except: if you’re gonna come for a drag queen, you better be ready for how she comes back. She comes back with an army of love.”

As of August 9, Billboard published a story about charting first timers where Grant was included since her single “Good Day” debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Christian Digital Song Sales.
