After Salina sent Malaysia Babydoll Foxx packing and survived her third lip sync, Salina thinks the other queens don’t see her as a threat. Anyways, everyone congratulates Sasha on her third win, but to no surprise, Loosey expected to win last week’s “50/50’s Most Gagworthy Stars” challenge.
On a similar note, Luxx is thirsty for a win having been in the top three for last week’s challenge, but for some reason, the girls are still obsessed as to who was in second place every week. Luxx of course thinks she placed second behind Sasha, but that’s because Sasha is the queen to beat and it appears that it’s “Everyone Else Versus Sasha Colby’s Drag Race” at this point. When Salina suggests the girls get out of drag, Luxx has to fit in some shade by saying, “But don’t get too comfy because the queen is coming for her crown, yes God.” In typical Loosey fashion, she responds, “Yes I am.” While Luxx is smart and witty, she gives a very 22 year old response jabbing back at Loosey: “I said the queen, not the beast.”
The next day, the girls discuss how fun the “Night of a Thousand Beyoncé’s” runway category was. Loosey felt very beautiful in her version of Beyoncé’s 2011 MTV VMA pregnancy announcement look, but Luxx asks, “Why weren’t you pregnant, though?” Loosey and Luxx pick up where they left off yesterday because Loosey continues to defend her decision instead of admitting she missed the mark. Luxx kindly reminded her that she didn’t succeed with her impersonation look. Loosey then exclaims she was in second place, not Luxx, but who cares because Sasha still won the challenge.
RuPaul then arrives to announce that the mini challenge is a “Harlem Vogue Ball,” something RuPaul wishes she was a part of in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but never was because she came out of the Club Kid scene, not the ball scene. Everyone does a mediocre job except Sasha, with her hair whips, splits, and backbends, and Anetra with her 30,000 death drops and duck walking. To no surprise, Anetra wins the mini challenge.
RuPaul announces that for the maxi challenge, Bubly wants the queens to pair up for a stand up comedy show. The girls participate in a painful sponsorship where the queens shove their hands in a container of ice to pick out a colored Bubly can and the queens who have matching cans will be paired up. Sasha and Anetra pair up, then Luxx and Loosey, then Mistress and Marcia. This leaves Salina all alone except she can choose to steal a queen away from one of the pairings, so she picks Mistress. Marcia, the newby, is now solo and Anetra has the power to choose the lineup because she won the mini challenge.
Despite how the episode began, Loosey and Luxx are still both thirsty for a win. When Sasha and Anetra begin to work, Anetra is distracted by a migraine, probably from the 30,000 death drops she did 20 minutes ago.
The queens then run through their material with Michelle Visage and guest judge Ali Wong. Michelle has little to no good contributions, but Ali helps out every queen. Marcia does well, Luxx and Loosey do an amazing job, but Salina and Mistress’s comedy bit about hook up stories are long winded and not funny. The most cringe part though is Anetra having absolutely no jokes and I think we all feel bad for Sasha being paired with her. Ali even says, “I’m worried about Anetra.”
While the girls paint their faces, Marcia voices her worries about doing the challenge alone and Luxx and Loosey add even more pressure on her, which is hilarious. Cut to the other queens, it seems like everyone tells their life stories to Salina and Mistress is another queen going to Dr. Estiddies for some therapy. Mistress had previously told the girls about the story of when her mom found her drag when she was 17 and how she’s been on her own ever since. For part two of the story, she tells Salina about how she broke her ankle while performing in drag and called her mom to come to the emergency room. Mistress’s mom yelled at her screaming, “What the fuck are you wearing?” and then proceeded to tell her mom to leave her alone and has not spoken with her ever since. The good side of the situation is that she realized her self worth because she can’t keep putting herself out there for someone who doesn’t see her as a normal human being.
Finally, it’s time for the maxi challenge. First up is Marcia who is in a red dress that barely fits her and does nothing for her figure. In terms of her comedy, none of her jokes land and it’s just awkward. Luxx and Loosey save the day. They work well off each other by complimenting and insulting each other at the same time, but Luxx honestly does better. A bit they do is about Loosey’s teeth being very white, Luxx says, “Oh honey I bet they get so white they say, ‘Can I speak with the manager please?’” When Loosey says her teeth are so white they find her own comedy funny, Luxx adds, “I know that’s white.”
Probably the hardest to watch and saddest set is Anetra and Sasha’s. They immediately go into a bit about being stoners and acting high the whole time, but that’s not funny since nearly half of the US has legalized weed. Also, Sasha’s wig was not on right! Her sideburns and the back of her own hair is exposed. The only part that saves them is when Sasha says, “This bit is lasting longer than Evie Oddly’s dick,” and then adds that Michelle’s huge balls are named Latrice and Euerka. But Salina and Mistress do okay. They both tell separate stories about hooking up with a guy and their stories are similar until they find out they hooked up with the same guy. But it felt more like a bad SNL bit than stand up comedy.
After everyone did an okay job in the challenge, the runway category is “Rip Her to Shreads”.
- Marcia wears a tame, blue dress that is cleanly shredded along with a sash. She does a good job acting like she had just won a fight to get her pageant crown back with her makeup running and rhinestone blood on her wig.
- Loosey has a tattered, beige 19th century dress with a white, ghoolish face that doesn’t really match the whole look, but it’s still better than Marcia’s.
- Luxx pays tribute to RuPaul by wearing a recreation of a look of hers from 1986 when she was in the band Wee Wee Pole. The look includes shreaded white fabric over what looks like linebacker shoulder pads, white lines painted on her face, and a black and white striped and patterned underwear on the bottom.
- Sasha murders the runway yet again by ripping the bottom of her dress to strut down the catwalk in a shredded denim gown with rhinestone fringe and a durag made of the same fabrics.
- Anetra wore a dark green catsuit over a pink catsuit with cutouts that make the pink pop.
- Salina pays tribute to how her mom who crossed the border to come to the United States from Mexico with a tattered traditional Mexican blacket over her shoulders and basically a beige dress underneath.
- Mistress concludes the category with what looks like a pink ball gown that has the bottom part burned off leaving other burned patches on the dress; it’s giving very Moschino.
To no surprise, Marcia, Sasha, and Anetra are in the bottom while Loosey and Luxx receive great critiques. The only critique I didn’t care for was when TS Madison said, “You’re Sasha Colby, girl, I want more from you,” because she’s won three challenges! Salina was read for her look, but she ends up being safe with Mistress and despite their bickering at the beginning of the episode, Loosey and Luxx are the winners of this week’s challenge.
Luckily Sasha is safe while Marcia and Anetra have to lip sync for their lives to Doja Cat’s “Boss Bitch.” Definitely the best lipsync of the season and one of the best in probably three or four years, these queens brought their strongest dance moves to save themselves from elimination. I rewinded and watched this performance at least 10 times! At the beginning of the lip sync, Marcia bends backwards and walks on her hands and feet until Anetra jumps over her and lands gracefully, successfully stealing Marcia’s thunder. Marcia tries her best, but when Anetra spins in the air and lands in a death drop as they battle it out with splits and crawling on the floor, the clear winner is Anetra.
What I appreciated was when Marcia was eliminated, she was very grateful for the experience and even though she broke a record by being safe for 10 episodes in a row, she left with a smile.
